Incorrect Bowel Bacteria Causing Constipation and Diarrhea

IBS and candida can both be caused by incorrect bowel bacteria, as can constipation and diarrhea. You are taking fiber, but you need fiber that is usable by the correct bowel bacteria, as opposed to fiber that is essentially inert to your bowel other than being a bulking agent. Correcting bowel bacteria is the job of a prebiotic, and sometimes with a probiotic.

I would say try Psyllium if you haven’t already. It is wonderful for constipation and it is recommended for people with candida. Take it with lots of water. Psyllium may be providing mechanical advantage by providing bulk, but it fails to provide the means to control incorrect bowel bacteria, which may actually be the source of the problem. So, even if you elect to use psyllium, you need inulin, too.

Drink more water, too. Also, eating 2-3 apples a day helps a lot. I also walk about 30 miles a week, which also helps a great deal. The apples also help if I want something sweet to eat. For those of you who can’t exercise, I suffer from debilitating headaches and migraines, which is why I can only work part-time, so I know how difficult it is to exercise. Walking actually helps to reduce the headache/migraines and it also keeps me more regular. I think it is due to the endorphins that reduce pain.

Walking for exercise is not the same as walking on the job, either. Different chemicals are produced in the brain during exercise, and they are ‘healing’ chemicals, which is why everyone always says to exercise. I started walking for 5 minutes a day and I had no idea I would work up to 30 miles a week. But, it has improved my health greatly. Exercise is crucial.
